Lantern post stocking holder.
Every year at Christmas time, of all the various things I create and sell, there is always a "best seller". It is the one item that is so vastly popular among my customers that I feel like I'm only really making that one particular thing during the season! This year... THIS was the hot ticket item! The lantern post stocking holder!
I've lost count of how many I made, but trust me, I made A LOT!
The holder features a 10"x10" base, with a 6-foot, beautifully turned post, and a metal/glass lantern on top. The lantern can be filled with decorative ornaments, a candle, a string of battery-operated LED mini lights, or whatever other decoration.
Six dowels extend from the post at various heights, which allows for hanging of many stockings.
Each post can be entirely customized; select your own paint colour of either white, black, charcoal (not shown), or a driftwood-like finish (not shown). The post can also be built in any height.
Glass knobs can be added to the ends of the dowels...
...or the dowels can be left "naked"...
There is also the option of adding a light distressing to the painted finish, which highlights the corners, edges, and curves...
The use of beautifully turned solid wood components and addition of decorative trim gives a sophisticated, elaborate, finished look...
If you prefer a less "curvy" look, the posts can be made from a 4"x4" solid wood alone and small metal double hooks for hanging stockings instead of dowels can be installed...
Also, a hanging sign with the family's last name on one side and/or another word, quote, or image on the other side, can be added...
This stocking holder is such a great idea! Whether you have a mantel or not, the holder is not only a great decorative piece, it's functional too! Even with a mantel in the house, it usually isn't possible to hang stockings off of it once they are stuffed because they tend to be too heavy. This holder is sturdy and can easily accommodate a good number of stockings; 1-3 stockings can be hung on each dowel, depending on their size/weight once filled.
Fireplace mantels tend to get decorated for the season anyway, and often times stockings just impede on that decoration because where else would they get hung? With this holder, you can have a beautifully decorated mantel and the stockings displayed at the same time without compromising the mantel decor.
With a minimal footprint, the post holder is compact so it's ideal for condos, small apartments, small rooms, or other such spaces.
